I wish you could have seen the faces of the ladies as they received their Mothers Day Baskets! The women from both the Better Together group and the Safe Haven (mothers who have lost children to gun violence) group expressed pure delight at not only the gifts received, but also the thought of others valuing them enough to acknowledge their motherhood in such a tangible way. Isolation is one of the biggest challenges of many of the women we serve. All of their lives have been touch by tragedy and injustice in some way. The simple gift of a Mothers Day Basket was able to bring a sense of support from the broader community that their ladies don't often experience! I would like to give a special thanks to Twin City Bible Church for generously providing the gift cards and Bath and Body Works items that were added to the baskets! Small acts of kindness and generosity can have a big impact on those who are struggling! Thanks to each of you who helped make these gifts possible!
Hague Accreditation and Ethical Adoption!
The Adoption Department at ICM (Dayna and Amanda) deserves a huge shout out as we celebrate the renewal of our Hague accreditation which we received in March! In order for Illini Christian Ministries to provide home study and post placement services for families seeking to adopt internationally, we are required to renew our Hague accreditation every four years! This is a time consuming, strenuous, and expensive process! Still, at ICM, we place the utmost value on ethical adoptions that protect the best interests of children, birth parents, and adoptive parents. By participating in and completing the process of being Hague accredited, we help ensure that safeguards are put in place and best practices are utilized in order to honor our commitment to providing only ethical adoption services. Thank you Amanda and Dayna for all of the extra work you put into the process!
