The mission of ICM is to "Glorify God by restoring and empowering families." One of the ways we do this is by providing ongoing opportunities for our volunteers to grow and be more equipped to come along side those we serve. Domestic violence is a prevalent issue that many of the families we serve have faced or are currently facing. As a result, we are excited to partner with Mid Central Community Action to offer a Domestic Violence Simulation to our Bloomington/Normal team. The event will be held on April 27th from 9-11 a.m. at the Bloomington campus of Eastview Christian Church. The address is 401 Union Street. The event is free and open to anyone interested in gaining a better understanding of the complexity of domestic violence and learning new ways to support those who find themselves in D.V. situations. Here is what one of our volunteers had to say about her experience with this D.V. Simulation: "This simulation gave me great empathy for the impossible situations that so many mamas find themselves in...going through this simulation has changed the way I approach helping and God has already used what I learned to help me better navigate multiple relationships in my life...this training will better equip us all to love and empower families trapped in the cycle of domestic violence." If you would like to attend the D.V. Simulation, please email [email protected]. You need not already be a volunteer with our Family Care Program in order to attend! If you live in Champaign County, you are welcome to attend this event in Bloomington, but we are hoping to offer this same simulation in Champaign/Urbana in the future. Thank you all for being part of the ICM family! We are excited to learn and grow together as we seek to love God and those he has called us to serve
